HENRY BIRD
PROJECTS - CONSERVATION
One of the principle motivations for my becoming an Architect was developed by my love going for outings with my father, Peter Bird, (who passed away in 2010) who was an incredible conservation architect and was responsible for the conservation and restoration of a massive catalogue of hugely important historic buildings (largely in the southwest of England).

Bird Architecture has worked closely with Peter Bird's former practice - Caroe and Pertners - on a number of projects, particularly the Shrine of St. David in St. David's Cathedral in Pebrokeshire.

Considerable assistance has been provided to Johnathan Louth ARConsulting in relation to ongoing works at St. Georges RC Cathedral in Southwark, London.

A significantly smaller but important work typology that Bird Architecture is happy to offer is working on domestic projects in listed Buildings or in conservation areas that will require a planning application to be submitted for works to the street facing elevation - such as the replacement of windows in a home retrofit. Despite not having the grandeur of larger conservation buildings, such projects are actually extremely appealing because they as so very important - a wholesale retrofit of our domestic housing stock is an extremely important part of a drive for net zero carbon.
